Description:
BLUE SPRINGS, Florida (20 Sep 2008) Authorities told CDNN Richard Mork died while scuba diving on Friday afternoon with a friend in a cave called Jackson Blue.
Mork and his friend, Dan Weyant, both from Texas, descended about 2,000 feet into an area called Rabbit Hole.
At that point, Mork encountered problems and apparently lost consciousness.
Weyant told rescue officials he found Mork unresponsive with his regulator out of his mouth.
He tried to revive the victim with his alternate air scource (back-up regulator) but Mork never regained consciousness.
Mork's body was recovered by Jackson County Sheriff's Office dive team members and two certified cave divers.
The 14th Circuit Medical Examiner's office in Bay County will perform an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
Earlier this year, Joel Mitchell Tubbs, 41, also died cave diving in the same area.
